DIMAPUR DISTRICT CO-OPERATIVE MILK PRODUCERS’ UNION LTD., (DIMUL)
The Dimapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. popularly known by its brand name DIMUL is an autonomous district level cooperative milk union registered during 1984 whose management and administrative functions are governed by the provisions of its own bye-laws framed under the Assam Cooperative Societies Act 1949 and the Assam Cooperative Societies Rules 1953 now in force in Nagaland. Since the year 2001-02 the Union had elected Board of Directors with 7 of the members drawn from farmer representatives and 4 nominated official members. The Chief Executive Officer is the administrative head of the Union.
ACTIVITIES:
The main activities of the Organization are (i) Organization of Dairy Cooperative Society (DCS) in rural villages (ii) Procurement and Marketing of Liquid milk and milk products (iii) Providing technical inputs such as Feeds & Fodder, Artificial Insemination (AI), Animal health coverage and trainings etc. to the members.
The Central Dairy of the milk Union with an installed capacity of 10 TLPD is equipped with milk chilling, homogenization, pasteurization, automatic pouch filling and sealing machines for fresh milk products and quality control laboratory facilities.The gamut of milk products processed at Central Dairy, Dimapur and marketed under the brand name DIMUL include Pasteurized Toned Milk, Cow Milk, Pasteurized Lassi, Misti Dahi (sweetened curd), Plain Dahi, Ice cream, PedaandIce candies.
The milk products are marketed mainly to the commercial hub Dimapur and the capital city of Kohima in Nagaland and in neighbouring towns of upper Assam such as Dergaon, Golaghat and Jorhat. The improving awareness of consumers for quality products coupled with rise in demand for milk products; DIMUL milk and milk products being a local milk brand in the district is fast gaining the preferred choice by consumers over the years. Apart from public consumers, the Union also caters to the liquid milk requirement of various military and paramilitary establishments in the state. The products are also made available and sold at exclusive outlets under North East Frontier Railway stations at Dimapur, Lumding and Hojai.
Milk occupies a special position among food items due to its nutritional benefits that ensure health security to humans, hence the demand for milk and milk products. Milk serves as the best source of nourishment for health. The prospect of milk providing economic returns to the farmers which in turn improves their livelihood has been a key factor for rural farmers to embark upon dairying as an instrument of progress. This synchrony serves well the ultimate purpose of elevation of poverty for the downtrodden masses.

ACHIEVEMENT DURING THE YEAR 2020-21:
- PANEER: A new product Paneer has been launched in the market during the year under report.
- Ice candies: Varieties of ice candies were also launched and added to the products line as an initiative under diversification of products.
