Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY)
The department of Cooperation has been implementing this important agriculture intervention CSS program under the department of Agriculture. Cooperation department has been allocated with the scheme- Mobilization of Farmers. Under this sub-scheme, the department is involved in the mobilization of farmers by forming Commodity/Farmers Interested Groups, Skill Enhancement trainings, providing credit linkages, Exhibitions and Melas, etc.
During the 1st phase, eleven (11) Cooperative societies were assisted and the process for 2nd phase is underway, wherein 22 (Twenty Two) Cooperative societies are to be assisted.
During the current year under report , under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) 640 piglets were distributed to 1280 farmers under 64 Commodity Interested Group(CIG) formed .As a follow up action ,assisted towards purchase of feeds for piggery units were also disbursed to 64 CIGS.
Amongst others, notable project undertaken are:
- Extension of Credit Linkages
A chronic problem plaguing the local farmers are lack of credit facilities and the complete absence of thrift behaviour in their occupation. The flow of investment credit to agriculture is constrained by host of factors such as high transaction costs, structural deficiencies in the rural credit delivery system, issues relating to credit worthiness, lack of collaterals in view of low asset base of farmers, low volume of loans with associated higher risks, etc.
This Project intends to arrest this deficiency to some extend through the availability of Micro-credit or seed money at a minimum rate of interest through the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd. (NSCB). An amount of Rs. 2.00 Lakhs is provided to each cooperative society/ CIG.
- Establishment of Cold Room.
Establishment of Cold Rooms to enhance value to the agricultural produces of the farmers. 10MT and 5MT capacity Cold Room with 40KVA and 25KVA diesel generator back-ups were provide to 6 (Six) progressive cooperative societies across the districts.

- Promotion of Piggery Activities
Promotion of Piggery activities was also undertaken under this project where 10 (ten) piglets were provided to each cooperative society for propagation and as corpus. The cooperative societies were mandated to continue the program with the corpus and reach out to more pig farmers in the community. So far, this project has been implemented in 63 villages.
